LAND OF OAK AND IRON - MEET THE MAKER WITH JOANNE ROWLAND

DATE & TIME: Saturday, 2nd October - 10:00-16:00

VENUE:  Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Centre, Spa Well Road, Winlaton Mill, Blaydon upon Tyne, NE21 6RU.

Land of Oak & Iron are excited to host the next of our regular ‘Meet the Maker‘ events at the Heritage Centre in Winlaton Mill.  Our next Meet the Maker is with Joanne Rowland.

Joanne is a professional wildlife and pet portrait artist, based in County Durham, in the North East of England.  She lives with her husband, and her Romanian rescue dog, Daphne.

Joanne describes herself as a self taught, ‘Accidental Artist’ after being gifted an art set for Christmas 2015!  She rediscovered a love of drawing, that hadn’t been seen since school, over 30 years previously.

Her work, both private commission and wildlife, is now held in many countries across the world.  She endeavours to capture realism, detail and personality in her work; her chosen mediums are usually artists coloured pencil (water and traditional) or pastel.

Joanne’s inspiration is drawn from the local wildlife, species of significant importance, and African wildlife from her numerous visits to the South African bush.  She has previously created art work for ‘ReWilding Britain’ events, featuring Chris Packham, and for a ‘ReWilding for the Future’ series, featuring Blue Planet lead camera man, Dave Allen.

Please come along to Joanne’s Meet the Maker event, where you can buy a wide range of her original artworks and prints.  Joanne will also be available chat to you about her artwork and inspiration.

‘Meet the Maker’ this week will be inside the Heritage Centre building due to the weather.  We have hand gel available and politely request that face coverings are still worn when entering the building to use toilets, shop area and café shrub, this helps keep our staff, other visitors and their families safe.
