A Year on the Road: The Spaces That Hosted DBN in 2025

Looking back at the last twelve months, the map of our 2025 meetings tells a story of a network that truly gets around the North East. We’ve always believed that the right environment can change the tone of a conversation, and last year we certainly tested that theory—moving from golf courses and rugby clubs to historic chapels and sailing hubs.

Here is a look back at where we spent our time in 2025.

From Winter Workshops to Spring Heritage

The year began at Beamish Park Golf Club in January, a venue we returned to in February for our Business Boost workshops. There’s something about the view over the course that helps clear the head for strategy. February also included a session with UMi, followed by a visit to the stunning Ushaw Historic House, Chapels and Gardens in March. Networking in a place with that much history always adds a bit of perspective to our modern business challenges.

The Heart of Consett

In April and May, we focused on the local hubs that keep our business community moving. Consett Rugby Club offered a warm, down-to-earth welcome in the spring, followed by a productive session at the Derwentside Business Centre. These are the places where the real work happens, and it’s always a pleasure to support venues that are so central to the town.

Summer by the Water

June saw us back at Beamish Park, but July was the real seasonal highlight. We headed to the Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club for our Summer BBQ. Networking is always a bit easier with a view of the water and a more relaxed atmosphere.

Coffee, Cake, and Culture

After a break in August, we laced up our walking boots in September for the Wag & Walk. The morning air at the reservoir was exactly what we needed, made even better by the stop at The Stables at Beamish Hall afterwards for coffee, cake, and a proper catch-up.

In October, we were hosted by Beamish Museum, a venue that never fails to spark a bit of nostalgia and conversation. It’s a unique place to meet, and it reminded us all of the deep roots our region has in industry and trade.

Wrapping Up the Year

As the weather turned, we headed back to the Derwentside Business Centre in November—a session that proved even a bit of Consett snow couldn’t stop us. Finally, we finished the year at the Steel Town Bistro at Derwentside College in December, reflecting on everything we’ve achieved together.

A Huge Thank You

To every venue that put the kettle on, laid out the bacon butties, or opened their doors early for us: thank you. You didn't just provide a room; you provided a space where local business owners felt welcome and supported.

We’ve already started our 2026 journey, but 2025 will be remembered for the great hospitality we found across the region.
