February Networking: Heritage, New Faces, and Fond Farewells at Consett Golf Club

Our February meeting took place under clear blue skies at Consett Golf Club. The bright morning sun provided an exceptional backdrop, offering members stunning views across the fairway as we gathered for our monthly catch-up.

The energy in the room was fantastic. With a high turnout, the clubhouse was quickly filled with the sound of local professionals connecting over coffee and bacon rolls.

Local Heritage and Future Growth

We were delighted to be joined by Kris, Consett Golf Club Secretary, who shared the fascinating history of the venue. From its deep-rooted connections to the Consett Steelworks to its role in the community today, the club remains a cornerstone of the area.

Kris also spoke about the club’s current diversification, inviting the general public to enjoy the scenery and hospitality. It is an excellent example of a local institution evolving to meet modern needs while respecting its heritage.

Professional Presence and New Connections

A highlight of the morning was the presence of new DBN member Andy Smith of Andy Smith Photography. Andy spent the session capturing professional headshots for members looking to refresh their LinkedIn profiles.

With 14 members taking the opportunity to step in front of the lens, there was a real buzz of activity. We look forward to seeing the final results and how these high-quality images help our members showcase their professional brands online.

We were also pleased to officially welcome two new members to the network:

  • Danielle Fulcher from Drop Anchor Business

  • Jaynie May from North East Barristers Chambers

Both received a characteristic DBN warm welcome. We will be sharing more about their respective businesses and expertise in our upcoming newsletter and across our social media channels.

A Time for Reflection

The morning was also a time for reflection as we remembered colleagues and friends. We took a moment to pay our respects to our Company Secretary, Monica Anderton, who sadly passed away earlier this month. Monica was an integral part of our team and a dear friend to many; she will be missed immensely by the entire network.

We also shared the news of the passing of former DBN member Keith Liddell. Keith’s son, Tony Liddell of Vindomora Solutions, is a valued current member of our group. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Tony and his family during this very difficult time.

Looking Ahead to March

Our next meeting will be held on 17th March at Ushaw Historic House, Chapels and Gardens.

Ushaw is a venue steeped in history and surrounded by stunning gardens, providing another excellent setting for our members to connect and collaborate. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there for another productive session.
