The Do Business Network (DBN) is thrilled to celebrate the incredible success of valued member, Building Self Belief, and their inspiring Kye's Kick Off team.
This dedicated team recently triumphed at the 2025 North East Charity Awards, where they were named Young Charity Champions of the Year! This achievement is a fantastic example of the passion and positive change happening right within our network.
An Inspiring Achievement
The Kye's Kick Off team, based at Boldon School, formed after the tragic loss of their friend, Kye Cunnington, to leukaemia last December. Four friends turned their grief into a powerful force for good, aiming to celebrate Kye’s memory and support a great cause.
Their initial fundraising initiative—a charity football match between Year 9s and Year 11s—was a huge success, raising an astounding £4,100 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Recognition of Dedication and Heart
We are delighted to share the pride expressed by Christine Thomas:
"What an amazing achievement, our Kye's Kick Off team won the Young Charity Champions of the Year at the 2025 North East Charity Awards. We are so proud of the team, they fully deserve such recognition for their dedication to their dear friend Kye."
This award celebrates the team's commitment to continue their efforts, organising more events in Kye’s memory and building vital skills through charity support.
