The DBN Small Business Shoebox Expo
The smallest business exhibition in the world!
We’re really sorry to inform you that we’ve had to make a difficult decision to cancel next weeks Small Business Shoebox Expo Event 2022.
Due to the sad passing of HRH Queen Elizabeth II, it has come to our attention that a number of key participants are unable to attend the event due to the period of national mourning. In addition to this the extra bank holiday on the 19th September has caused unexpected changes to some businesses’ working pattern.
The good news is that we are working with Beamish Museum to come up with a new date. We do hope that once we have a new confirmed date that you’ll be able to participate in the event.
Sorry again, but we feel that these circumstances are out of our control.

At 'Do Business' Network, we do business, and are always thinking of creative ways to engage our members so they get all the opportunities possible to be part of our business community.
Following the huge success of our last Shoebox Expo (pre pandemic) we are thrilled to announce that 2023's expo will be held in the Bank Board Room and Museum Room at Beamish Museum - full details to be released very shortly.
Small is beautiful, innovative and engaging!
Come along and network at the smallest business exhibition in the world! We'd like everyone to exhibit their businesses in a shoebox. Simply bring a shoebox (or similar sized box - no bigger please!) that has been decorated with items in it that represent your business then get networking with everyone else to show off your business in a box. It's a great opportunity to network with lots of North East small business owners and promote your business in a fun, visual and memorable way.
Innovation
The theme for this expo is Innovation and we have four guest speakers coming along to talk about the importance of innovation within your business:
- Matthew Henderson, Beamish Museum
- Neville Tynemouth, New Results
- Graeme Watson, Lumo Tax Ltd
- John Heslop, RTC North
That's not all!
Our guest speakers will be voting for the winner of the most creative box to win a bottle of Beamish Gin!
Tea/coffee and a light lunch will be served.
Once the Expo is over you are more than welcome to stick around and enjoy an afternoon at the museum.
