EXCITING PROJECT ALERT!

DBN The Movie? You'd better believe it! We'll start filming this summer...

Do you have an interesting story about how you came to set up your business? We'd love to hear from you.

This summer DBN is working on an exciting project to make a short film about how and why people start their own business and their business journey.  You (our members) will be the stars in this movie.

After our meeting in June we already have several volunteers to be filmed.  We need a few more (hint: no male volunteers as yet so come on guys!) then we can get to work.  We'd also like DBN members to get involved in the interviewing and filming too even if you don't want to be in front of the camera.  After all, these are really useful skills to learn for your own business marketing.

Please drop us a line if you're interested or just come along to our next meeting where we'll give you more details.

UPDATE

This summer DBN is working on an exciting project to make a short film about how and why people start their own business and their business journey.  DBN members will be starring in it.

We want to show that people of any age can start their own business and find it really rewarding.

The film will be premiered at our special DBN event in October and we'll put it onto our website and social media.  We’ll also make it available to schools, colleges, housing associations, community groups, job centres etc to encourage more people to consider self employment as a real option at any time of life.

Thanks to everyone who has volunteered so far.  Beamish Museum have kindly offered to let us film there and John Atkinson has offered to do the interviewing.

GREG AIMS FOR 10km OPEN WATER SWIM FOR GOOD CAUSE

Greg O'Connell of GOC Construction Management will be doing a 10km open water swim in Windermere as part of the Great North Swim on 9th June in aid of Co Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust Charity.

The trust charity helps to provide critical equipment that the NHS trust can’t afford to deliver without outside support. Recently they have had appeals for new MRI scanners for Darlington Memorial Hospital along with the current Chemore appeal, which is raising money for a new Chemotherapy Unit at University Hospital North Durham. In addition to these large appeals, the charity raises money to supply training and smaller diagnostic equipment that benefits a huge number of people within our community. Anything that we can raise will make a huge difference locally.

Greg was recently interviewed by Peter Barron of The Northern Echo - the interview can be found here.
